Former VPOTUS, Dick Cheney said in an Interview with CBS that he would rather have Rush Limbaugh steer the direction of the Republican Party than Colin Powell. Cheney unashamedly desires a far-right social and foreign policy agenda as well as a supply-side, elite-favorinig economic agenda for the GOP that is alienating moderates in the party. The Forum would like consevative leaning members to give thier opinion on this...Do you feel like this is a positive direction for the Republicans? Do you share Cheney's attitudes toward the moderate Republicans?

As a liberal, part of me is glad that Cheney is supporting a drug addict. It can only make the right's agenda less appealing to the majority of Americans.
ReplyDeleteDick Chaney has the same right to say whatever he wants to, just like eveyone else. When it it comes time for me to cast my vote,I'll tend to lean on my own research, rather than what was reported by the media, endorsed by the media, or interpreted by the media for my benefit. That said, Dick Chaney is probably safer giving interviews on CBS than out hunting with friends!
ReplyDeleteI lean to the right, but absolutely hate Rush. That guy is an idiot. And Dick supporting a man who hopes that our current President fails is rediculous. Any man (wither or not you like our President(s)) should always support the President, and hope that for the good of our nation, is a success! Ive thought for many years that Colin Powell would make a great President. Im still surprised that Obama beat him to the "first black President" slot.

ReplyDeleteShouldnt we never be ashamed of our beliefs/political beliefs? I refer to a quote that says "what is right, isnt always popular, and what is popular isnt always right". Not to say that Chaney's policies are right, but just that, b/c the far right isnt popular in todays youthful society, why should he he be ashamed about it? Who's to say that Chaney's politics are wrong? Who's to say that the far left is wrong? No one can say that these are factual, and that either side is wrong.
Bottom line is, whatever you believe, you should be able to stand proudly behind them! And then never have anyone criticize you for standing up for what you believe is right. You can criticize their beliefs, but dont critize them for standing up!
To answer your Questions, given the past 8+ years, Republicans and Moderate Republicans are liberals. Look at their spending(Bailouts)! And invasion(Patriot Act) AKK!!!!
ReplyDeleteSeems to be a lot of name-calling here. Referring to Rush as a drug-addict and an idiot. Rush is arrogant(VERY unwilling to admit when he's wrong in the few times that he is), but respectful of his callers. What I like about him is that he DOES look to history and the facts like few people do these days.
